In order to best implement AFRP actions affiliated with geomorphic and hydrologic conditions, a comprehensive, baseline geomorphic analysis of Cottonwood Creek is needed to provide insight into the historical and active processes along the creek and lay the groundwork for evaluating the long-term effects of land management activities, in combination with natural processes. This information is also essential to prioritize where restoration, preservation, and enhancement should take place. Cottonwood Creek is a large tributary of the Sacramento River and lies in Tehama and Shasta Counties. Obtaining stream flow data, establishing control surveys, conducting field data collection on stream geomorphology and substrate, and obtaining relevant historical information are the key tasks of this project.
